Atmosphere

The atmosphere is that of a classic East African lodge: stone architecture, verandas opening onto grassland, understated furnishings. Main buildings overlook a pool surrounded by lawns, a watering hole regularly visited by local wildlife. In the evening, you hear the sounds of the bush from your rooms; lighting is deliberately kept subtle to preserve the acoustic and nocturnal environment.

Accommodation

The lodge features 99 rooms in three formats, allowing service to be tailored to different traveler profiles:

• stone bungalows with private verandas;
• single-story blocks;
• shaded tents, for a more immersive experience.

Each room includes standard international lodge amenities: flat-screen television, fireplace, coffee and tea facilities, minibar, safe, telephone, and balcony or veranda. Private bathrooms are equipped with a bathtub or rainfall shower, complemented by toiletries and hairdryer.

Dining and services

A hot and cold buffet breakfast is included. The main restaurant offers international cuisine, supplemented by a bar and, on select evenings, outdoor dinners in the bush. For relaxation, the spa provides aromatherapy, facials, body wraps and exfoliating treatments. An outdoor pool, gardens and terrace complete the common areas.

The lodge also offers infrastructure for groups and business travelers: business center, meeting rooms totaling 440 m², wifi, computer facilities, paid airport shuttle, car rental, laundry service, currency exchange and souvenir shops. Reception is open 24/7.

Location

The lodge is approximately 1 km from Keekorok town center and 5 km from Keekorok Airstrip, facilitating arrival via domestic flight from Nairobi (approximately 45 minutes flight time). Road access from the capital is longer and weather-dependent during the rainy season. Once there, you're inside the reserve: safari departures are conducted directly from the lodge.

When to visit

The peak period is the great migration of wildebeest and zebras between Tanzania and the Masai Mara, which typically crosses the reserve from July to October, with river crossing peaks in August-September. The dry season (June to October, then January-February) facilitates wildlife viewing: vegetation is lower and animals concentrate around water sources. Rainy seasons (March-May and November) offer greener landscapes, lower crowds and more accessible rates.
