Location and access

The lodge is located in the southeast of Tsavo West National Park, which covers 9,065 km² and ranks among Kenya's largest protected areas. From Nairobi, allow 4 to 5 hours of driving for approximately 260 km. A local airstrip also allows reaching the lodge from the capital in about one hour by air. From Mombasa, the drive of roughly 250 km passes through the Tsavo River gate.

When to visit

The dry season remains the most favorable period for safaris: vegetation thins out and wildlife converges on watering holes, including the lodge's. Between October and January, the Ngulia hills welcome a remarkable phenomenon: the stopover of thousands of migratory birds from the Northern Hemisphere, a major waypoint on their route toward southern Africa. This is a sought-after time for birdwatchers.

Mzima Springs, accessible by car from the lodge, is equipped with an underwater observation platform to view hippos beneath the surface. The rhino sanctuary, below the lodge, deserves a dedicated outing.
